Schengen visa
A Schengen visa is a type of visa that allows travelers to visit multiple countries within the Schengen Area, a group of European countries that have abolished passport control and border checks between them. Travel within the Schengen Area is generally unrestricted for up to 90 days within a 180-day period. This area includes most European Union (EU) member states, as well as some non-EU countries like Norway, Switzerland, and Iceland.

This is the most commonly used type of Schengen visa, allowing travelers to enter and move freely within the Schengen Area for purposes such as tourism, business trips, family visits, and other non-permanent reasons.
Schengen Transit Visa (A)
This visa is for travelers who need to transit through one or more Schengen countries when traveling to a non-Schengen country. It is typically used for airport or land border transits.

This visa allows you to travel only in the specific Schengen country that issued it, rather than throughout the entire Schengen Area. It is usually granted for special cases, such as humanitarian emergencies.
National Visa (D Visa)
While not a Schengen visa in the traditional sense, national visas issued by Schengen countries are designed for long-term stays and specific purposes, such as work, study, family reunification, or long-term residence.
Airport Transit Visa (ATV)
This visa is required for travelers who need to transit through an international airport within the Schengen Area but do not intend to leave the international transit area.

Some Schengen countries issue group visas for groups of travelers with a common purpose, such as tourist groups or delegations.
